RG7 Topical Meeting: IRD, weathering and Northern Hemisphere glaciations

During this meeting we would like to discuss links between ice on land and ice-rafted debris (IRD) and weathering indicators found in offshore records. How did the Nordic Seas/North Atlantic IRD and weathering fluxes vary over the Cenozoic period? Can these be linked to the inception and evolution of Northern Hemisphere ice sheets? How can we determine which ice sheet produced the record (e.g. provenance studies)? And what do these records represent (e.g. advancing/retreating ice)?

Paul will defend his PhD thesis next friday, 24 March in Auditorium 5 at Realfagbygget at 1315. The title of his thesis is “A multi proxy study of Pliocene Norwegian Sea paleoceanography”.
