Laura Dietrich
I am a researcher at the Geophysical Institute at the University of Bergen, affiliated with the Bjerknes Center for Climate Research. My work centers on the Greenland Ice Sheet. I study how exchange processes at the snow surface affect the ice sheet's surface mass balance and the composition of stable water isotopes in the snow.
My goal is to strengthen our understanding of the water cycle and to improve the accuracy of ice core paleoclimate records by understanding how the climate signal is recorded in the surface snow. To achieve this, I run global and regional isotope-enabled climate models to simulate the hydrological cycle. Additionally, I gather snow and atmospheric measurements in Greenland to validate our models.
